A nationwide industrial and nonprofit organization, formed jointly and voluntarily by various economic organizations engaged in manufacturing, import and export, overseas turnkey project contracting and other related activities in machinery and electronic industry. The only nationwide chamber of commerce in machinery and electronics sector, CCCME has nearly 10,000 members, including both leading enterprises and small & medium-sized manufacturers and foreign trade companies representing the industry as a whole.

China Machinery Engineering Corporation was built on its predecessor China National Machinery & Equipment Import & Export Corporation, which was set up in 1978. The core business of CMEC is engineering contracting, but as a large international conglomerate, it also extends into trade, investment, R&D and international services. In the area of international trade, CMEC is a pioneer in China’s machinery and electronic products industry. It is now the key supplier of high-end casting and forging products for top international corporations including GE, Caterpillar and Liebherr. CMEC was the comprehensive power solutions supplier for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, and the iconic new office building of China Central Television. CMEC has been actively promoting the new energy project of distributed PV plants and now possesses the capacity to provide one-stop systematic services.

Light industry in China is primarily referred to the production of consumer goods, and it covers the following 19 industrial segments: pulp and paper making, daily-use mechanical devices, silicates for daily use, chemical products for daily use, salt-making, foodstuffs And beverages, leather and fur as well as their products, wood processing and woven works of bamboo, rattan, palm and straw, furniture, cultural, educational and sporting goods, arts and crafts, plastic products, metal products, household electric appliances, lighting devices, weighing devices, sundry articles for daily use, light industrial machinery and others.

Aiming at the promotion of trade, CLIS acts as a bridge, linking light industry in China with that in the rest of the world. According to the articles of association and purpose of CCPIT, the main tasks of CLIS and LICC are as the Following:

  • Make great efforts in cooperating with foreign economic and trade circles, and deepen relationship with relevant chambers, associations and non-governmental organizations.
  • Organize study tours, exchanges, training, and economic and trade negotiations.
  • Hold or participate in professional Exhibitions on consumer goods in and outside China, international conferences and technical seminar
