The National Hardware Show® Presents First Ever Tailgate Product Merchandising Pavilion & Party

(NORWALK, CT March 31) - - -For the first-time ever, the National Hardware Show® has created a unique and exciting way for home improvement retailers to source new products to attract consumers into their stores – with the First Tailgate Product Merchandising Pavilion and Party -- May 4- 6, 2010 at the Las Vegas Convention Center’s Silver Parking Lot. The display will be open all three days of the show and the party will take place on Wed. May 5th from 4:30 – 6:30 PM. All badged National Hardware Show participants are invited to attend.

With an estimated 50 million people who engage in tailgating each year in North America alone, it has become more than a college experience, according to Tailgater Monthlymagazine, consumers also tailgate at motor sports events, concerts, baseball games and other sporting events. However, football and tailgating remain the dominant bond, according to Tailgater Monthly, with over 65 percent of all tailgating activities taking place at football games. Virtually every state and region of the US has some tailgating activity with regional hotspots particularly in the midwest, northeast and southeast.

“With so many consumers looking to recreate in this manner, home improvement retailers can leverage products and inventory they are probably already selling in their stores into a different merchandising presentation,” said Ed Several, Group Vice President & Show Manager, National Hardware Show. “Not only are we looking to present new inspiration for retailers, we also want to have some fun at the party on May 5th – Cinco de Mayo.”

The first-ever Annual Tailgating Display will feature grills, outdoor water toys, coolers, stools, canopies, hammocks, camping equipment, folding and portable chairs, vehicles, outdoor infrared heaters, BBQ accessories and flavored charcoal, licensed products, bungee cords and more.

With so many opportunities to source and purchase new products, this year’s National Hardware Show will offer the greatest depth of big brands and emerging companies representing the seven major product categories. The National Hardware Show® will be held on May 4-6, 2010 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and celebrates a rich history spanning 65 years of serving the home improvement marketplace. From its early beginnings in New York during the post-World War II housing boom and eventual move to Chicago in the 1970s to today’s current location in Las Vegas, the National Hardware Show continually evolves through the industry’s involvement, commitment and passion to improving America’s quality of life through their homes.

Today, the National Hardware Show is the place for global manufacturers, associations, organizations and the media to unveil their new products, ideas and insights to a broad spectrum of home improvement resellers.   • The Money Pit, nationally syndicated radio show, will conduct its annual “National Hardware Show” media tour.
  • Nationally syndicated radio shows such as “On the House with the Carey Brothers,” The Gary Sullivan Show,” “Master Handyman with Glenn Haege” and “The Money Pit” will be broadcasting live from the show floor.
