National Hardware Show® to co-locate with the North American Retail Hardware Association Annual Convention

Co-location Provides Efficient Platform for Buyers & Sellers to
Connect, Grow and Learn

(NORWALK, CONN May 5th) - - -The National Hardware Show® and the North American Retail Hardware Association (NRHA) have reached an agreement in principle to co-locate the NRHA Annual Convention with the National Hardware Show beginning with the 2011 event, May 10-12, 2011, in Las Vegas. The newly coined “National Hardware Show ® held in conjunction with the NRHA All-Industry Convention” will incorporate all of the programming that the NRHA currently offers at its annual meeting, such as The Young Retailer of the Year Awards and the Retail Innovators of the Year.

“The NRHA Annual Convention has found a new home,” commented Bill Lee, Managing Director, NRHA. “With this agreement, we are able to more fully and deeply serve the industry in one annual gathering, thus unifying the industry in a way that is very much needed right now. On behalf of our Board of Directors and our members, we are truly thrilled to bring the industry together in one great location, Las Vegas.”

The 2011 National Hardware Show held in conjunction with the NRHA All-Industry Convention, will host delegations from the International Hardware Association, the first-time the IHA has held a meeting in the U.S. Some 500 delegates, plus business partners, will be in attendance to network with their fellow domestic and international attendees and exhibitors at the show – all designed to help grow the international hardware community.

“It is with great honor that we are planning to welcome the NRHA, its Board, members and industry-at-large to join with us in 2011,” said Dennis MacDonald, Senior Vice President, National Hardware Show, who has a 20-year tenure managing the National Hardware Show®. “The co-location of our two events will enrich and fortify the platform on which we are able to connect the domestic and international hardware community to enable communication, partnership, and ultimately to serve the greater good of the industry.”

The 2011 National Hardware Show held in conjunction with the NRHA All-Industry Convention will continue to welcome supporting and sponsoring industry associations and publications such as the Paint & Decorating Retail Association (PDRA), Lawn & Garden Retailer Magazine, Homeworld Business, and Presidents Council.

“Moving our NRHA Annual Convention to the National Hardware Show allows even more home improvement retailers to benefit from all that NRHA does to help them operate their stores more profitably,” commented Don Lochard, NRHA Board President. “This change will allow our entire industry to come together to learn from each other and to work together to make our industry stronger. I would encourage every one of my fellow hardware retailers to join me in Las Vegas in 2011.”

This year’s event marks the 65th anniversary of the National Hardware Show®, and is completely sold out of exhibit space to manufacturers from the Home Improvement, Lawn & Garden/Outdoor Living, Tailgating and other key industries. The list of attendees promises to be one of the strongest line-up of buyers, representing not only traditional retail and wholesale outlets, but untraditional channels like grocery, mass, drug, catalog, Internet and international retailers. This includes industry giants like Home Depot, Walmart, Sears, True Value, Costco, Sam’s Club, Ace Hardware and many more representing more than $237 billion in sales revenue. Attendance overall is up more than 1% over last year -- quite a feat in a challenging economy.
