National Hardware Show® and North American Retail Hardware Association Hammer Out Marketing Plan and Programming For 2011 Combined Event

(Indianapolis, IN August 30) - The National Hardware Show® and the North American Retail Hardware Association (NRHA) met to develop a marketing plan and programming to support their agreement to co-locate the NRHA Annual Convention with the National Hardware Show beginning with the 2011 event, May 10-12, 2011, in Las Vegas. The newly coined “National Hardware Show® held in conjunction with the NRHA All-Industry Convention” will incorporate all of the programs the NRHA currently offers at its annual meeting -- such as The Young Retailer of the Year Awards and Retail Innovators of the Year -- while allowing the two organizations to more fully serve the industry in one annual gathering.

"A New Way to Market" will be the major theme of the National Hardware Show® held in conjunction with the NRHA All-Industry Convention and will be present in all phases of marketing, promotion and show events -- from the opening ceremony held on the NRHA Village and Industry Summit Stage in the Central Lobby of the Las Vegas Convention Center, to "Independents' Day," a celebration of independent hardware dealers that will close out the three-day event. Along these lines, the Show will promote such ideas as "finding new products," "finding new customers" and "increasing outreach to existing customers."

The 2011 Show promises to expand on an already impressive list of global attendees, not only from traditional retail and wholesale outlets but untraditional channels like grocery, mass, drug, catalog and the Internet -- all representing almost $240 billion in sales revenue. In addition, the Show will continue to offer exciting special events, including product demonstrations, NRHA TV and Social Networking Roundtables, as well as informative addresses by industry experts.

And while the combined event will promote industry cohesion, the NRHA All-Industry Convention will maintain the intimate, "family" atmosphere that has kept NRHA members coming back year after year. Seminars will be held at the Bellagio Hotel, but attendees will also spend time on the floor of the Show, where they will find a diverse lineup of manufacturers exhibiting from the Home Improvement, Lawn & Garden/Outdoor Living, Tailgating and other key industries.

In addition, the 2011 National Hardware Show held in conjunction with the NRHA All-Industry Convention will host the International Hardware Association Congress, the first time the IHA has held a meeting in the U.S. Some 500 delegates, plus business partners, will be in attendance to network with their fellow domestic and international attendees and exhibitors at the show – all designed to help grow the international hardware community.

The National Hardware Show® celebrates a rich history spanning 65 years of serving the home improvement marketplace. From its early beginnings in New York during the post-World War II housing boom and eventual move to Chicago in the 1970s to today's current location in Las Vegas, the National Hardware Show continually evolves through the industry's involvement, commitment and passion to improving America's quality of life through their homes. Today, the National Hardware Show is the place for global manufacturers, associations, organizations and the media to unveil their new products, ideas and insights to a broad spectrum of home improvement resellers.

The North American Retail Hardware Association (NRHA) is a 109 year-old, not-for-profit trade association whose mission is to help hardware stores, home centers and lumberyards become better and more profitable retailers. NRHA was founded by hardware retailers and is still governed today by a board of retailers. NRHA fulfills its mission by providing information, communication, training and networking opportunities for the industry it serves. NRHA publishes Hardware Retailing magazine, which every month reaches over 36,000 stores in the U.S. and Canada. NRHA also provides a wealth of online training to thousands of retailers through its website, NRHA also serves retailers through its NRHA Vendor Partner program, which is a collaboration with the industry's leading manufacturers to develop new programs to support the success of the industry's retail sector.
