National Hardware Show® Opening Ceremonies To Feature Pat Farrah, Co-Founder Of Home Depot

Farrah To Be Inducted Into Home Channel Hall Of Fame

(Norwalk, Conn. April 1): This year's National Hardware Show® (May 4-6, 2010, Las Vegas Convention Center) celebrates 65 years and will pay homage to one of home improvements ‘game-changers' during its opening ceremonies. Special featured guest, Pat Farrah, co-founder of The Home Depot, will participate in the opening ceremonies on May 4th at 8:30 AM at the Central Hall/Main Stage in the Central Hall Lobby and will go on to enter Home Channel Hall of Fame during the Golden Hammer Awards ceremony that evening.

Farrah has more than 45 years of experience in the hardware and home improvement industry, during which time he established himself as a merchandising wizard and a key player in the founding and early success of Home Depot.

"My favorite accomplishments have been the opportunity to serve the DIY and professional customer, creating career paths and success stories with thousands of associates, and successfully partnering with quality and progressive vendors," Farrah said.

At National Lumber in California, Farrah worked his way up from stock boy to executive VP. He then went on to start Homeco, an early warehouse style home improvement concept that later caught the eye of Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank. After a stint with Scotts Miracle-Gro's Smith & Hawken division, Farrah is now managing partner of Re:Retail, a retail consulting firm.

Farrah will join many industry luminaries as he enters the Home Channel Hall of Fame, which started in 2004. The list includes last year's recipient, Lyle Heidemann, True Value, and Farrahs' former co-founders at Home Depot, Arthur Blank and Bernie Marcus, who were entered into the Hall of Fame in 2004.

In addition to gaining critical insight, retailers will be able to source the largest retail home improvement marketplace. Top brands and emerging companies representing the seven major product categories will be on the sold-out show floor and include: Audiovox, Bosch, 3M; Ames True Temper; Arrow Fasteners; Bond Manufacturing, Brinkmann Corporation, Burpee Garden Products; Camp Chef; Channellock; Coleman Cable, Cosco Home & Office; Designers Edge, Earthtronics, Elmer's Products; EMSLO Group, Fiskars; Feit Electric; Ferry Morse Seed, Gleason Group, Henke/ Loctite, IDC Westinghouse, Illinois Tool Works, Jarden's First Alert brand; Karcher, N.A., Little Giant/Franklin Electric, MTD Products, Racor, Rio Brands, Stack-On Products, ShurTech Brands, Southern Patio, Stanley National Hardware, The Hammock Source, Vaughn & Bushnell; Whirlpool/Gladiator Garage Works; Worx; The Scotts Company.

The National Hardware Show® will be held on May 4-6, 2010 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and celebrates a rich history spanning 65 years of serving the home improvement marketplace.
