For Independent Retailers, the National Hardware Show® is a Can't-Miss Event

Mar 17, 2016

Norwalk, CT (March 17, 2016)—If you’re an independent retailer, you won’t want to miss the National Hardware Show®, which will be held Wednesday, May 4 - Friday, May 6 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Along with networking opportunities, educational seminars and more that all attendees can benefit from, the Show offers a few benefits geared specifically toward the independent retailer.

“Independent retailers make up a large portion of the home improvement industry,” says Rich Russo, vice president of the National Hardware Show. “From educational seminars, to exhibitors raising their hands to be identified as selling to independents, to product recommendations, there’s so much to offer the independent retailer at this Show, and we want to make sure the independents who attend can take full advantage of these opportunities.”

"Independent retailers must work to become more united, and the National Hardware Show is the place where it all happens, regardless of our wholesaler affiliations,” says Will Aubuchon of Aubuchon Hardware, which is headquartered in Massachusetts and has more than 100 stores in six states.

Finding the Right Exhibitors
There’s a new on-site guide at the Show that showcases more than 1,000 exhibitors selling to the independent retailer. Pick up a copy before you hit the Show floor. And make sure that when you register for the Show, you provide information about the product categories you’re interested in, so you can get a personalized list of exhibitors and products to help you more easily find what you’re looking for.

Also, be sure to download the free NHS Mobile App before your trip to the Show. In addition to using it to plan your time at the Show, the app has a special section just for independent retailers that will guide you to specific exhibitors who focus on selling to independents.

And finally, in an effort to provide attendees with the most efficient and productive experience, the Show is introducing a new 411 hotline for attendees to call or text any questions you may have on getting around the Show floor, finding specific exhibitors and more.

NRHA Village
As an independent retailer, you’ll want to check out the North American Hardware Retail Association (NRHA) Village. NRHA is an association dedicated to helping independents become better, more profitable retailers, and at the Show, NRHA will host a slew of speakers and awards programs geared toward helping independents continue to succeed.

“My favorite aspect of the show is definitely the networking with retailers, vendors & trade professionals,” says Adam Busscher, owner of Picton Home Hardware Building Centre in Picton, Ontario. “I find the NRHA Village to be the perfect place to meet and learn from great speakers and other retailers.”

After being on the Show floor last year, the NRHA Village is returning to the main lobby this year, in the space between the North and Central halls. Come by to learn more about what NRHA can offer you, and see a variety of speakers. One keynote speaker, Charles Fishman, author of “The Wal-Mart Effect,” will speak about the company and its effect on the industry, as well as the American economy. Another keynote speaker, Mark Herbek of the Cleveland Research Group, will speak about the U.S. economy’s road to recovery, its effect on the home improvement industry and what key initiatives can help independent retailers and their businesses.
