Big Brand Power Tools Are Reving Up At This Year's National Hardware Show®

(NORWALK, CONN April 15) - - - Home Improvement retailers will be able to gain unique, DIY consumer insights through live, big-brand power tool testing at the first-ever “HANDY Magazine Test Shop,” as power tools will be put to work in the skilled hands of ‘elite’ DIY Handyman Club of America members at this year’s National Hardware Show® and Lawn, Garden & Outdoor Living (May 4-6, 2010, Las Vegas).

Along with over 2,300 vendors presenting 100,000+ products, this year’s event features hands-on testing of power tools from Milwaukee, Rigid, Ryobi, Dremel, Delta Porter-Cable, Skil, and more by a select group of Handyman Club of America members and show attendees in Booth #7854. In addition to the big brands being tested, the following will be exhibiting at the show: Bosch, WORX/Positec, General Tools, American Lawn Mower, Buffalo Tools, Black & Decker Outdoor, Ray Innovations, Supplierpipeline Inc., Pratt-Read Tools, Proxxon, Ridgerock Tools, DMT Diamond Machining Technology, JL Industrial inc.,King Tools & Equipment, Port-a-Nails, Ivy Classic Industries, JS Products, Inc., Maxtech Consumer Products, Richpower Industries, Jensen Distribution Services, KDAR Company and Norton Abrasives.

“We are very excited to be able to showcase some of the newest power tools from the biggest brands,” said Ed Several, Group Vice President & Show Manager, National Hardware Show. “This is also a unique opportunity for retailers to gather information about the newest tools, see how the tools respond to use and determine how consumers respond to the newest tools on the market. It is especially informative for retailers who want to better understand how consumers select the brands of power tools they do.”

Six Handyman Club of America members were selected from over 800 submissions to conduct the demonstrations live on the show floor. Retailers will have the opportunity to see first-hand what the ‘experts’ say about each power tool. Social media, through Twitter, will play a big part in this special event as industry professionals on the show floor will have the opportunity to ‘tweet’ about the demonstrations and the latest power tools. Using the National Hardware Show twitter hash tag (#EdSeveralNHS), everyone in the “twittosphere” will learn about the latest power tools being unveiled at the National Hardware Show.

This marks the 65th anniversary of the National Hardware Show®, which is completely sold out of exhibit space to manufacturers from the Home Improvement, Lawn & Garden/Outdoor Living, Tailgating and other key industries. The list of attendees promises to be one of the strongest line-up of buyers, representing not only traditional retail and wholesale outlets but untraditional channels like grocery, mass, drug, catalog, Internet and international retailers. This includes industry giants like Home Depot, Walmart, Sears, True Value, Costco, Sam’s Club, Ace Hardware and many more representing more than $210 billion in sales revenue. Attendance overall is up more than 1% over last year -- quite a feat in a challenging economy.
