(NORWALK, Conn. April 17, 2013)— For both buyers and sellers in the home improvement industry, the National Hardware Show®, which will be held May 7-9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, is the place to be. The show’s growth is evident with the addition of almost 700 new exhibitors signed up for this year’s event, as well as some veteran big brands.

“We listened to what attendees and those in the industry wanted, and they wanted the big brands to return to the show,” says Sonya Ruff Jarvis, vice president of attendee programs with the National Hardware Show. “We’ve brought those brands back, but we’ve also reached out to a number of new exhibitors. We strive to make the National Hardware Show a can’t-miss event that showcases the newest, most innovative ideas throughout the industry, and we think the fact that almost 700 new exhibitors will be attending this year really speaks to that.”

So far, more than 98 percent of available space at the National Hardware Show is sold out. Products will come from a variety of categories, including Farm & Ranch; Hardware and Tools; Homewares; International Sourcing; Inventor’s Spotlight; Lawn, Garden and Outdoor Living; PDRA Paint and Accessories; Pet Products; Plumbing and Electrical; Storage and Organization; and Outdoors, Tailgate and Recreation.

In addition, the Innovation Station will be the place for exhibitors to show off products that are brand-new to the industry, with special sections for products that are environmentally friendly. The Inventor’s Spotlight area will house products that are patent-pending or just received patent approval, allowing attendees a firsthand look at the newest products on the market. International Sourcing will feature more than 500 exhibitors representing manufacturers from more than 30 countries.

“I have attended the National Hardware Show for the past five years,” says Will Barnhart of the Oregon-based Wilco co-op. “I go there to take advantage of the activities and training offered by the North American Retail Hardware Association (NRHA) at the Village Stage and attend the NRHA Convention, and to see what's new. There’s so much more at the National Hardware Show than the normal co-op shows we attend. I also get the chance to mingle with all the other retailers, learning from them and hearing what's going on in their businesses. For anyone in the retail hardware business, the show is a don’t-miss event."

Some well-known brands that will be coming back to the show include 3M, Ames True Temper, Louisville Ladder, Intertape Polymer and more.

For global companies like Ames True Temper, the National Hardware Show offers an opportunity to meet with international customers.

“The National Hardware Show is a great place to meet our customers from around the world and have an opportunity to be in one place and share with them our new products and product lines,” says Karen Richwine, director of brand marketing with Ames True Temper. “It’s a nice opportunity. Customers from around the world travel to the National Hardware Show. It’s a great show in a short period of time and the perfect opportunity to meet with all our customers.”

“We’ve attended the National Hardware Show for many years,” says Santiago Veytia, director of marketing for Louisville Ladder. “We enjoy attending because it offers us the opportunity to meet many buyers, both current and new, in the same place in a short period of time. We get to present new products and promote our brands as well.”

Timothy Brown, vice president of sales—consumer & HVAC, with Intertape Polymer, also enjoys the networking opportunities the National Hardware Show provides.

“This will be my 14th year attending the show,” Brown says. “I enjoy networking with peers and meeting with customers while I’m at the show. The National Hardware Show offers a broad showcase of products and manufacturers, and it really keeps me connected with industry trends, new products and people in the industry.”

The global appeal of the National Hardware Show means more and more new exhibitors signing on, strengthening the impact of the show for attendees and exhibitors alike, as all involved find more ways to network and reach out to potential customers. There will be nearly 700 new exhibitors across multiple categories. Some of the new exhibitors include Kohler Co., Woodcraft LLC, Family Handyman, Millennium Lock and Frontline Products, among others.

For these new exhibitors, the National Hardware Show offers a chance for them to get exposure to new business.

“We had such success at the recent Orgill trade show that we felt the hardware industry was really a great opportunity for us,” says Paul Croisdale, CEO of Frontline Products, which specializes in upscale dollar store merchandise. “We’re still competing with the dollar stores, but we’ve done well in the grocery and drugstore trades and we felt we could do the same with the hardware trade. We’re looking forward to meeting new people and getting new accounts.”

“We’re looking forward to offering a wide array of products for attendees at the National Hardware Show,” says Ruff Jarvis. “From the big, well-known brands or the new exhibitors, there will be something for everyone. We’re proud to be able to offer such a wide range of products throughout the home improvement industry.”
