(NORWALK, Conn. April 12, 2013)— The National Hardware Show® is the biggest event of its kind in the home improvement industry, offering both exhibitors and attendees a range of opportunities to do far more than just buy and sell products. Chief among these is an educational program featuring timely and compelling insights that will appeal to any member of the home improvement channel.

These educational opportunities will be held throughout the show, which will be held May 7-9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

"We're excited to be able to offer such a wide variety of programs for those attending the National Hardware Show," says Sonya Ruff Jarvis, vice president of attendee programs for the National Hardware Show. "The show is a great place to take advantage of educational opportunities such as these, and we're looking forward to attendees being able to network with such knowledgeable speakers and learn more to improve their businesses."

In addition to the National Hardware Show's programs, the North American Retail Hardware Association's (NRHA) All-Industry Conference will also include a variety of other speakers, as well as breakout sessions that will allow retailers to have more one-on-one time with social media, marketing and online experts.

"NRHA is happy to being able to bring these knowledgeable experts to speak with independent retailers from all over the world," says Bill Lee, NRHA's president and CEO. "We know they will provide retailers with plenty of valuable information to help them grow their businesses."

Another part of the show that will provide valuable feedback for exhibitors is the product review and vetting program, which was launched at last year's show. With this program, manufacturers have the chance drop off their products to be reviewed by some of the industry's leading buyers, who will provide valuable insights that can help manufacturers with the launch of these products into the marketplace.

"With the large number of vendors attending the National Hardware Show in May, we're pleased to participate in the product review process," says Steve Markley, vice president of merchandising with Do it Best Corp. "This is a great opportunity to be able to evaluate the innovative new products coming into the marketplace. Our member-owners depend on our team's ability to identify and stock the products that will drive additional traffic to their stores, and this review process enables us to do just that."

Along with Do it Best, other companies participating in this program include Distribution America, Lancaster, Northern Tool + Equipment, PRO Group, Val-Test, SkyMall and Sears Holdings Corporation.

Beyond more structured seminars, attendees have the opportunity to learn about the latest products and trends to hit the market through direct interaction from the thousands of manufacturers on hand at the event.

"Visitors to our booth will also have the opportunity to meet with product managers, who were instrumental in the development of new Apex Tool Group innovations," says Douglas Laird, director of sales for Apex Tool Group. "The National Hardware Show is helpful because we have a global customer base, as well as manufacturing facilities around the world. We want to provide attendees with the opportunity to demo our new innovations, allowing them to experience the features and benefits of our tools firsthand."

Tuesday, May 7:

9:00 am - 9:45 am - Get Connected: Finding, Engaging and Maintaining Consumers Online

Timothy Dahl, founder of Charles & Hudson and former online producer of This Old House, ELLE DÉCOR, Metropolitan Home and Woman's Day, will host a seminar on where and how to generate a more dynamic online presence and how to create content that will drive more consumer traffic to your website.

11:00 am -11:45 am - The Multi-screen World: New Consumer Behaviors and theImpact on Home Improvement Sales

The keynote speaker at the conference will be Kathy Daly-Jennings, a Google executive who will talk about the many screens including phones and tablets of today's consumers and their impact on the home improvement industry.

Daly-Jennings is no stranger to retail, as she worked for Home Depot and, at Google, manages a team that delivers businesses solutions to some of the largest retailers in the Southeast. She specializes in helping brick-and-mortar retailers excel in a digital environment.

Wednesday, May 8:

3:00 pm - 3:45 pm - Today's Changing Path to Purchase

King Hill, Marcus Thomas LLC will moderate this presentation about new consumer shopping habits and their impacts on e-commerce, in-store merchandising, overall shopping and engagement. This presentation will discuss the interplay between search, social and mobile technologies and how consumers seek out products and retailers and is beneficial to representatives in the home improvement industry who want to understand how new technology influences their customers.
